The basic principle behind The Business Board 2020 is based on a collaborative conversational approach amongst peers. With the ultimate aim of supporting growing and established SME business owners within Cheshire, Wirral and North Wales. 

This concept combined with the passion and desire of the co-founders to successfully facilitate and deliver an insightful Business Board meeting for SME business owners that do not have a Business Board of their own or are looking for external guidance and support.

Ultimately, we have a mission to deliver a Business Board service to local business owners that want to share challenges, targets and who are open to the idea of support, motivation, encouragement, knowledge, accountability and guidance from other similar-sized businesses.

Board

Meetings

There will be 10 Board Meetings annually for the simple reason the Co-Founders want August and December as business time elsewhere. The meeting will be held at the Abode Hotel, Chester. Paddock Rm or The Mollington Banastre Hotel, Chester

There will be no more than 10 Board Members per Board. Currently, the meetings are held virtually via Microsoft Teams and the maximum number of members is 8.

 

A VIrtual PA is provided to record goals, targets, commitments and decisions. Minutes are issued post the Board Meeting.

The Daytime Meeting

The Daytime Meeting is held on a Friday at 11 am for 3 hours. Possibly the fasted 3 hours of your business week and one entirely focused on strategy and business success. We stop for comfort breaks when we remember!

NEW - The Evening Session

Due to numerous requests, this meeting has been announced as of 17th March 2021 and is currently looking for members to join this Board Meeting. The Evening Session will be held on a Tuesday at 6 pm for 3 hours. Focused on challenges, opportunities, strategy, accountability and business success

All Guests and Members will need to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement to maintain confidentiality within the Board Meetings.​

Virtual Membership is paid annually. 

 

Guests can visit the meeting for a one-off fee once only. You will know very quickly if the business environment is the right business support for you.

Story

Daryl Vickers and Graham Little BSc(Hons) PgD CA, where do I start?

 

Using the Thai expression "same, same, but different" is probably a good place.

 

Previously, Daryl Vickers had been looking at adding value to his already successful and growing network business, Networx4business. Having attended a franchised business board group session, he realised he could deliver his own version of a Peer Board given his extensive network group and experience. For one reason or another, this desire was put on ice, until he met Graham Little.

 

Graham Little had started the process of looking into Peer Networks in 2011 when he almost signed a contract with a franchise that provided Peer Boards. Again, the timing was not right to support businesses in this way, until he met Daryl Vickers in 2019.

Establishing the concept behind The Business Board 2020 was very straightforward back in May 2019.

 

The collaborative approach was shared with the University of Chester, The Growth Hub and selected business professionals such as Accountants, Lawyers and Financiers. All believed in the concept but did not immediately identify with the value and the benefit.

 

That said we have a fabulous Accountancy Partner as part of our Board today and have retained links with the University of Chester to support start-up business as we develop our services.

Daryl and Graham now run The Business Board 2020 in partnership. Together, they bring the passion and desire of wanting to add value to local businesses in Cheshire, Wirral and North Wales.

 

Beyond our Celtic roots, we have shared values in terms of the agility to adapt and both thrive on business transparency. We bring vastly different experiences from running a successful SME business to sitting on a Regional Corporate Board based in Asia. 

We find that together we are greater than the sum of our respective parts.
